Welcome to Akalpur is a Hindi adaptation of Neil Simon`s `Fools`, written in late 19th Century. The adaptation is a comic fable, set in the small imaginative village of Akalpur. The story follows Mohan, a schoolteacher who takes a new job educating Radha, the daughter of Dr. Rastogi and his wife, Sarita. Mohan soon learns that there is a curse on the village that makes everyone stupid, but complications ensue when he falls in love with his pupil.
Alchemy Theatre Society was founded by IIT Delhi and MNNIT Allahabad alumni in 2018. Since then, we have staged 40+ shows and 10 Productions across Bangalore, Delhi, Mumbai, Chandigarh and Jaipur. Some of our productions are Manav Kaul’s Park, Waiting for Godot, An Iliad, Qaid, Chuhal, and Natyachalak. During Covid times, we collaborated with the artists virtually by organizing poetry festivals, monologue competitions on our Instagram channel (alchemy_theatre). Also, we organized a Live Instagram event – GUFTUGU, where we invited eminent personalities from theatre fraternity like Piyush Mishra, Shilpi Marwaha, Amit Sial and many more to share their theatre experience so that the younger generation can be benefitted out of that. Since opening our doors, we’ve been committed to helping students and corporate individuals pursue a career they love along with their studies and jobs. Nikhil Chaudhary is an actor and director at Alchemy Theatre Society who had the fortune of performing, directing and teaching theatre at Ankahi Theatre Society, IIT Delhi. Nikhil has 8 years of theatre experience as a professional actor, performer and director on stage. He has performed and directed more than 40 shows throughout his theatre career both at college and professional level. He has also trained with Shakespeare Society at University of Leicester in the United Kingdom and later acted in ‘Merchant of Venice’ with the group Dramatech which was awarded as ‘Best English Play’ by Sahitya Kala Parishad, New Delhi in 2016.
