Guru Smt. Gayathri Chandrashekhar, Founder/Artistic Director of Nrutya School of Art, is one of the best Bharatanatyam performing artist that we have in our age. Trained under the aegis of renowned Dance maestro Guru Kalaimamani Smt. K.J. Sarasa in Chennai, here is where her passion encountered sheer excellence. An international debut as the lead dancer in Dr. Nagaswamy’s dance troupe with performances staged across 9 countries in 3 continents – North America, Europe and Asia earned her incredible fame & name.
Notable awards & accolades like the AIWAA 2021, Femina ICONS OF SOUTH 2020; IWDIAA Women Achiever; G-Town – Most Influential Classical Dancer; Asia Woman of Substance; Heart and Soul – Women rising award; Vocational Excellence award by the Rotary Governor; Title of Natyakala Ratna have further established her as a top artiste.Director of Shekar Logistics Private Limited, Bangalore, Mrs India 2021 and Jury member in 2022, an excellent choreographer, a tarot card reader, certified life coach, a philanthropist – Mrs Gayathri dons multiple hats with elan.

ABOUT THE SCHOOL:
NRUTYA SCHOOL OF ART, the brainchild of Guru Natyakalaratna Smt Gayathri Chandrashekar, established in 2009, follows the Vazhuvoor style of Bharatanatyam. Religiously following the tenets of her Guru Kalaimamani Smt K J Sarasa, Guru Smt Gayathri trains students ranging from 6 years to adults. Her belief is that classical dance is a powerful ally for not just improving our physical fitness, but it can also help improve our emotional, cognitive and social attributes. The creative expression of dance can bolster communication skills and inspire dynamic relationships.
Fostering social interactions and cooperation, inculcating discipline & imbibing values via the artform, the camaraderie of working in a group and last, but not the least; the art of communicating through gestures and actions are what makes classical dance a holistic experience. And this truly is what Gayathri aspires to impart and educate her disciples with, at her dance school.
Taking pride in upholding the traditional parampara of the Guru-Sishya relationship, Nrutya’s students have been part of prestigious performances – the Chidambaram Natyanjali; Kapaleeshwarar temple, Chennai; annual performance at the Hosur Natyanjali & Ulsoor Someshwara temple, a fundraiser for Karunashraya, to mention a few.
